Imagine you’re heading out for an errand and your car won’t start. Or you run over a nail on your way home and get a flat tire. We’re here to help you when you have car trouble. Our towing insurance provides roadside assistance services, like:
 
  • Towing service: If you find yourself stranded on the side of the road, or you just need to get your car from your driveway to a repair facility, we’ll help you get your car towed for up to 100 miles.
  • Fuel-delivery service: Even the most prepared drivers sometimes run out of gas. We’ll send a tow truck with gas to get you on your way.
  • Flat-tire service: AARP members don’t need to feel deflated by a flat tire. One of our emergency roadside assistance customer service representatives will send someone to fix the tire. And if it needs to be replaced, we include towing in your roadside assistance coverage.
  • Battery jump-start service: Roadside assistance from The Hartford is here to help if you have a dead battery. After you make a service call, we’ll send someone out to jump your car. This type of insurance is an optional coverage you can add to your policy as long as you have comprehensive auto coverage on your vehicle. There are factors to consider when deciding if you want to add roadside assistance to your policy, including:
 
  • Vehicle age: If you have an older car, you may worry it’s going to break down. However, even newer cars can experience flat tires and other issues that may require roadside assistance.
  • Driving distance: Do you frequently use your car for travel? Do you commute to work? Even if you aren’t driving far, you could still get a dead battery or flat tire in your driveway.
  • Convenience: Do you belong to a motor club that provides roadside assistance? Many insurance companies also offer this service. It might be easier to add roadside assistance coverage from your auto insurance company instead.
